Video Consultations – Information for pet owners
During the Lock down period we are pleased to be able to provide Video Consultations with our vets and nurses.
We are proud to be still open and staffed during normal hours to provide care for essential cases and to put up prescriptions/provide diets.
We are providing consultations via our new video platform for the initial assessment of fresh cases, for less urgent cases and follow up appointments and for regular medicine health checks.
There will be a charge for this consult which is paid before you are connected. Further payments for medicines dispensed will be made separately by phone at or before pick up from the clinic. Some medicines can be posted out if you are in isolation/ill but this will involve a delay.
We are also able to provide initial puppy & kitten consultations to give your new arrivals a visual health check & to prescribe initial flea and worming treatments, give advice regarding pet insurance, feeding and any other queries you may have.
There is a fee for these checks which will be credited against your follow up vaccination course.
How do Video Consults work?
The registration process is hopefully quite straight forward.
Step 1 – contact the surgery by phone 0115 9667920 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a consultation.
We need to know your email address and your pet’s name. Also a best contact phone number to call you if there are any problems.
Step 2 – the vet team will email you an Invitation To Register from Vet Help Direct. Please check your SPAM folder as well as INBOX for the reply.
They will also send you a separate email from Oak House Vets with a Step by Step Client Guide .
Step 3 – If you are not registered already on the video platform you will need to do so by following the link on the email you receive.
Step 4 – You will receive a second email with a verification code for you to enter to finish the registration.
Step 5 – you will then receive a third confirmatory email to say you are registered.
Step 6 – THE PRACTICE CAN NOW BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT
Please note as this is a new service, at this time only the practice can book the appointment, we are not currently offering the option for client to book directly.
Do not proceed to the BOOK AN APPOINTMENT page – this will show no slots available.
Step 7- Once the practice has booked an appointment you will receive a 4th email – Click link to confirm your appointment
Log in, if you have not already done so, & it will take you to the book an appointment page.
Here you will see your PRIVATE appointment slot.
Step 8- Next select the pet. Step 9- Click BOOK NOW.
If there is a charge for the consultation you will be taken to a secure payment screen to sort payment out.
Step 10- Read the guidelines to help consult to run smoothly then click BOOK NOW
You will receive an on-screen confirmation message.
Step 11- Click MANAGE MY APPOINTMENT and you will see appointment listed.
Preparing for a Video Call
before your appointment, please ensure
-you have access to a computer or mobile device with camera & microphone enabled
-access to wi-fi
-your pet is in easy reach. Put your dog on a lead or make sure your cat cannot hide somewhere!
-you have good lighting & no background noise
-you are ready & logged into the platform at least 5 minutes before your appointment time
-you advise the practice if you will be late for the appointment
Making Your Video Call
-Once appointment has been booked and confirmed you will see it listed on your DASHBOARD home page & APPOINTMENTS list
-10 minutes before your appointment a CAMERA icon will appear next to your details
Step 1 – Click on CAMERA icon & this will open call screen
Step 2 – Click JOIN & you will go to the video screen, you will see a holding screen until vet arrives. You will see vet on screen.
You can click on COGS icon to adjust your camera,microphone & speaker as necessary.
Step 3 – Once call is complete, click the the WHITE X In THE RED CIRCLE
– you can reconnect for up to an hour
